I got a Promote GPS for my D5000 from Adorama. I connected the GPS to the camera and switched both the camera and GPS on. I could see the "GPS" signal blinking and it never stopped blinking even after 15-20 minutes in a nice outdoor environment. I felt that the equipment was defective and replaced it with a new one. The new is also behaving the same manner. Is there something that I may be doing wrongly or is there something more that I may need to do?

Thanks

I have a couple of images (from same location), but forgot to turn the GPS unit. Promote Geotagging Suite seems to be the solution. But I don't have a PC.
Any plans to release a mac version of the Promote Geotagging Suite?

Thanks!
Joao

Hello Joao,

GPS-N-1 and GPS-N-90 don't hold the position if the satellite reception is lost. However, it's been reported that both of these have better sensitivity and signal retention than competing units.

Just bought the Promote GPS-90.
Does it have the ability to hold a position as described for Promote GPS-N-1?

Thanks!

Hi Brian,

We will probably add that feature in a future firmware update. The primary usage was HDR, so our attention was shifted to related features, but we will keep on extending the functionality.

It would be phenominal if a product could be released like this where the user could set shutter and aperature indpendent of the camera.

It is shocking that this device does not appear to allow for that.

There are users who want to be able to change their camera settings without touching the camera.. and without tethering it to a laptop with software allowing you do to that.
